QUEEN'S PARK IN THE ST MUNGO CUP

The St Mungo Cup was a one off competition played in the summer of 1951 to celebrate the Festival of Britain. Fourteen teams from "A" Division, along with Queen's and Clyde from the "B" Division, contested the competition, and Queen's suffered a rather humiliating defeat by nine goals to nil at Raith Rovers in the first round.

Celtic won the competition, but were somewhat miffed when they saw that the trophy was third hand, having been competed for in a yachting competition in the 1890's and then later used as a football trophy between Glasgow Works teams!
